Well, today made poker seem like work, and hard work that you are jala slot 428 for at that. I played a total of 4 sessions today, each one starting off woth me getting cracked on the very first hand. So, basically, I was playing catch up at the beginning of every session.
Well, the first three sessions worked out alright. I still made money, it just took a little longer than I was used to. After the first session I was up $103. After the second session I was up $255. After the third session, I was up $370. Not bad, not bad at all. I played more than I usually do but alwaysfelt after going down early that I was going to make it back plus some, and I did.
Well, my degenerate friend of mine called and asked if I wanted to go to the Bellagio and play some satellietes for the 5 diamond poker classic. I was trying to tell him no but I would go down there with him and maybe play in a ring game or just kinda watch him. I wasn’t tired but I was also content with my $370 I had already made. Well like half way through my sentence, he cut me of and said he would call me back. This is typical of him and usually he doesn’t call back. The reason I call him a degenerate is because he reminds me of Heeb a little. He doesn’t go completely broke like Heeb, but when he gets on a run, he tries to turn it into a million dollars in the same night. He doesn’t have a lot of money, probably less than me, but he makes huge runs and always loses it back playing way to high. I try to talk to him about it, but he doesn’t seem to listen. He is real good at poker but bankroll management is his achilles heel. Just in the last week, he has beat the 30/60 and 50/100 on Party(which he doesn’t have the roll to be playing in he first place) for $33,000 in two days only to lose it back in one day at 100/200, and 3 days later beat it for $13,000 again which he promptly lost. He also lost another $44,000 in a 2 month period within the last 3 months. Keep in mind each time he has done this his roll has been less than $10,000 before the run. He has no cncept of who he is playing against online. I try to tell him that he is playing against some of the best limit hold em players in the world at those limits but he doesn’t want to listen.
Anyways, after that fell through, I jumped back on Stars for a go at $500 for the day. Right off the bat, first hand, I lose set under set. Second hand, guy makes a straight on the river. Holy shit, they just keep coming. Before I know it Im down like $400 and back in the minus on the day. I work my way back close to even, in fact one pot away then this hand starts my slide back down. Folded to the small blind who raises, I 3 bet with 22. Flop comes A5X. He bets, I call. Turn is a 2 and he bets and I raise. River is a 3 giving him a straight with Q4. Holy shit. The all hell breaks loose. Within 10 minutes I go on a 500 dollar downslide. I was literally dumbfounded. I lost KK four times in a row. I lost it to 85, I lost it to A4 when I flopped top set, I lost it to AQ when an Ace spiked on the river, I just couldn’t believe it.
After that I played for about another hour, half tilted, and made some of it back, but not a lot. I had to eventually tell myself I am still doing fine for the week and there is no reason to try to make it all back tonight.
